1.Removing Write Protection from the Card:
So here is the first step, these days most of the SD cards comes with a simple lock on it using which you can easily remove or apply write protection. This is probably the most simple way, so here is how you can do so.
Hold the SD card in your hand and make sure that the label is facing up, now try and find the lock button which is placed on the top left side of your SD card. It looks like a small little slider. You can look at this image down below for reference.
So now once you find this slider, simply slide it up to unlock your card from lock protection. It is as simple as that, isn’t that so easy? Now let us look at the second best method.
2.Formatting the SD Card:
Now you might be wondering, what can I do if my card doesn’t have a slider button. Chill, this is method is dedicated for you. Now you can easily remove the write protection of your SD card by just formatting it. So here is how to do it.
First, insert your SD card into your computer using a card reader. Now once your card has been inserted and detected by your computer, just head on to my computer right click on it and then click on the manage option. Look at this screenshot down below for reference.
Now computer management window will be opened. Now simply double click on the storage option, and then select Disk Management. Once you click on it, it will be showing you a list of all the storage devices, now select your SD card from that list. Now simply right click on it and then click on Format.

Now you will be getting a formatting window, just click on Ok, and all the data on your SD card will be formatted. Once the format is done, write protection will be removed.
3.Using Diskpart Utility:
This is the third method in which you can remove the write protection from the Diskpart utility. This method is pretty simple, just head on to CMD and right click on it. Now run CMD as administrator.
Once your Command Prompt opens up, type the command Diskpart, and then press enter. Once done, now again type list disk and press enter. Now next type, Select disk x and press enter.
Once the above command is done, type this last command attributes disk clear read-only and press enter. Now your SD card’s write protection has been successfully removed. Now just click exit and then come out from the command prompt.

4.Using System Registry:
This is the last method to remove write protection from your SD card. So now let’s see how can you remove the write protection from SD card from the system registry.
From your desktop, click Windows+R key and type Regedit. Hit enter and the Regedit editor will be opened. Now just head on to the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentConrolSet/Control/StorageD
When you head on over here, you will now be seeing write protection on your right panel. Now simply click on write protection and set its value as 0. Now you have successfully removed the write protection from your SD card.
Now once you have used up all the space on the SD card, you can put back the write protection and make sure that your SD card is safe.
