“Know your limitations in your Google Blogspot”
Signing up for a Blogger account from Google Blogger is really easy. Everyone does that with ease, and they also create their first Blogspot so easily without any difficulties. But, many bloggers who join the Blogspot family forget to read the limitations on Blogger. Some even forget to read the FAQs and TOS of Blogger.
I thought, everyone on the Blogging world should know the limitations of Blogger. Though, there are various benefits from Blogger, there are some limitations and restrictions as well. Let’s begin by listing them.
Limitations of Blogger:
1. Number of Blogs
When Blogger was first started, you could create unlimited blogs. But now, you have a limit of 100 blogs per account.
2. Size of posts
Though, there is no limitations on the number of posts, but there is a limitation on size of a post per page. You can produce a post worth 1Mb size and not more than that on a single page (Front page or archive pages). This applies to your individual pages as well. So keeping a very long post on your front page can run you out of space.
3. Number of Labels
You can have upto 2000 unique labels for your single blog. You can have 20 unique labels per post.
4. Number and Size of Pictures
This is the most stunning and alarming limitation from Blogger. Blogger allows you a capacity of 1GB for your images. If you are accessing your blog from mobile, you can upload images of size 256kb and not more than that.
Tips: If you run out of space for your images, you can create one more blog just for images, post them there. Get the url and post it on your original blog.
5. Number of Team members
A size of 100 can accommodate your blog to write articles/posts.
6. Limited Widgets
Unlike WordPress which has much more widgets and plugins, Blogger has very limited number of Widgets.
7. Blog Description
You can fill the description of the blog up to a maximum of 500 characters without HTML. Adding extra HTML can revert to the previous setting.
8. Blogger themes
In Blogger, you can add only HTML based themes. These type of themes are not used by the web designers. In WordPress, CSS based themes are used and it has become a web designing standard for the web designers.
9. “About Me” Profile Info
1200 characters in the profile information is the maximum allowed here.
10. Profile Interests & Favourites
Each field allows maximum of 2000 characters.
11. Number of Pages
You can have up to 10 standalone pages on your Blogger blog.
